Match Report:

Unfortunatly after a late run of people crying off for various reasons and several members of the remaining twelve man side not 100% it was decided not to travel, bad way to end the season for the twos, BUT there are a lot of games in the next fortnight for the club and everyone will be needed at somepoint to cover our four games in seven days!! Tuesdays is core training show your faces for a run round in the sun!

Pre match blurb

Hurrah twoes in action as well this week…trip up to play the old Dartmoor mob, always seem a nice bunch old fashion rugby values “like that” and they dealt with a problem punch last year when Galling got twatted. It was out of order but they bothered to phone us up to apologise and they’d dealt with it with an internal ban.

No question it a toughie this week just beat them at home with a strong side…much changed this week but we shall see…. boosted by a couple of Uni boys and good to see some of the first team fringers willing to go as well…something high on my agenda next season is to make the twos more consistent both home and away and make them an out fit to be reckoned with. Your club will never be really strong unless you have every position pushed by another play who wants the job more. …Strong colts contingent coming up next season and if they don’t get into the ones, this league will be a good first step for them in senior rugby. Fact is this year the seconds have played harder opposition than some of the first team games…If some of the Colts do go straight into the ones (and I do expect several to do this) it will shock some of the old boys and the twos can only benefit if the old stagers get dropped.

Was training the colts on Wednesday and in the unopposed exercise they looked very sharp. Granddad Lock was watching and commented that I should just stick ‘em in on block especially the backs.

I know Uni and work may get in the way but next year we get Dalton, Clements, Harradance, Falkner, Deano, Slowman, Rice, Gould, Cheesey, Kingwell, Woodie and I think Norcliffe and I’m sure I’ve missed a few. They’ve all played since the age of 13 and they know what they are doing and I know it will make competition tough and that’s with out considering the 17 year olds who are also good….any way that’s in the future.

What am I on about…back to this week….team is … Skipper Floydie, Clarkie, Way from down under, Churchie/ Hannay, Wilson, Dan the man, Jefferson and Louie. Kenny is nine Salts at ten Rob “the welsh bloke” and Jonny Selway mid field, Collins and Kenny’s mate are on the wings with Ricky Lemon at the back subs are being worked on… have given Floydie a list of names so hopefully he will get more than the two we currently have.

Colts have their last game this week so any other games this season should be covered.

Fill you boots boys and I will by you each a beer if you come back with the bacon…don’t forget the table tennis competition (that I will be winning) at eight.
